GARSINGTON OPERA HOUSE, STOKENCHURCH, HP14 3YE
Garsington Opera Arts Hub was completed in Q4 of 2024. This project provides high-quality rehearsal spaces for the Company’s coaching and production workshops.
The design team carefully integrated the new structures into the Chilterns landscape whilst retaining existing heritage buildings and utilising traditional materials, including brick, flint, and dark-stained weatherboarding. To ensure environmental and visual harmony, the rehearsal wings feature bio-diverse green roofs and are screened by ancient woodland.
UK Carpentry Contracts were contracted to undertake the following works -
- Installation of roof members to form a new foyer roof, barn roof and the merging of a new cottage roof into the existing cottage roof.
- Steel structures were infilled with the installation of timber plates, joist hangers and joists that circumferenced around rehearsal rooms one and two, and the main foyer area on two levels, the joists were overlaid in plywood to form the platform that is to be used as a circulation area between rehearsal rooms and boh areas aswell as a viewing platform.
- Installation of fire rated and acoustic doorsets, ironmongery, window boards, skirtings, new staircase to cottage and several kitchen installations.
- The project finishing touches were the encapsulation of newly installed steel work to the viewing balcony areas, with oak handrails, spindles, cappings and base rails.
This development enhances Garsington Opera’s professional facilities, surrounded by idyllic scenery.
We are very proud to have been a part of such a prestigious project.
